FreeMED is an opensource electronic medical record system based on Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. FreeMED stores and represents its medical data as a group of "modules", which consist of a database model and a user interface. Each of the disparate modules are then virtually connected together by means of
relational database table fields referencing other modules and basic
patient demographics. This allows FreeMED to add and remove core
database functionality by adding and removing modules without having to
reprogram its interface.

AMIDE is a medical Imaging Data Examiner. It can handle any medical image file formats such as DICOM, which is the standard format for radiology images created from X-ray, MRI and CAT scans. AMIDE is a competely free tool for viewing, analyzing, and registering volumetric medical imaging data sets. Its been written on top of GTK+, and runs on any system that supports this toolkit (Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, etc.) It can import most clinical DICOM files (using the DCMTK library). It supports 3-dimensional ROIs to be drawn directly on the images. Statistics can be generated for these ROIs. Currently supported ROIs are ellipsoids, elliptic cylinders, boxes, and isocontours.
