Top Ten Games of 2016

Top Ten Games of 2016 When I thought back on 2016 I couldnt think of any amazing games at first. I honestly feel like the beginning of the year was an eternity ago, and I have a pretty bad memory. However, upon looking at my list of completed games I realized that this was a banner year for video games. So many great products were released, and a few of them actually blew me away.  As always I will be listing these games in descending order from ten to one. Keep in mind these are my opinions, and are based on video games I completed in 2016. 10. Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End  I was originally upset that there was an Uncharted 4, but seeing it in action put my mind at ease. This game gave the franchise the ending it deserved, and boy is it a great ending.  The gameplay is improved vastly over the previous iterations, and the graphics and facial animations are unparalleled in video games. Naughty Dog really knows how to draw everything they can out of Sony platforms, and I cant...

Top Ten Tech Tools Spring 2011

Top Ten Tech Tools Spring 2011 Its been almost three years since I first blogged my Top Ten Tech Tools, and plenty has changed. Consistent with my earlier ramblings about 2011 being The Year of the Cloud, Im finding that more and more of the tools Im using, are accessible from any computer or smart phone. Here then, my revised top ten tech tools for 2011: Gmail Ive had a Gmail account since June of 2004, and even though those in the younger generation tend to prefer short instant communication, this tool is the hub of my e-office. A few of the reasons I love the service: I can leverage customized filters for incoming mail; I can link documents to calendar events or to do lists; I can instantly convert attachments to Google Docs; I can search content Ive sent or received using Googles highly efficient search tool. Whats not to like? Google Docs Whether publishing surveys and forms, or collaboratively creating text-based documents, I love the fact that Google makes my work is available f...

Top Ten Favorite Battle Pets Part Two

Top Ten Favorite Battle Pets Part Two Marukas back to introduce you to the rest of my favorite battle pets. Two posts in one week. Im on a roll. ;) I have all of these spiders in their different colored skins, but the purple is my favorite. The Amethyst Shale Hatchling wasnt hard to find, at all. These spiders are all over Deepholm. Lots and lots. The Pandaren Monk. This is one of the few pets Ive spent actual money on. I think Ive only bought this one and one other. I really love his animations though. He is so funny. The Emerald Whelpling. This is one of the few pets Ive gotten as a drop. As I rarely run dungeons anymore and I never run raids, I dont have the opportunity to get battle pets as drops very often. I fight with this pet in almost every battle nowadays. Hes a level 25 so I use him to battle pets in Pandaria. His heals and Moonfire are very helpful to my main group. This is one of my first rare level Pandaren pets, the Bandicoon Kit. I like this one for no other reason than...

Top Ten Games of 2014

Top Ten Games of 2014 Since Ive started this blog Ive posted my top ten games of the year in text format. Im going to continue doing that, but this year I also recorded a podcast where I discuss each choice a little more in-depth. Keep in mind that these are my personal opinions, which may differ greatly from your own top ten picks for 2014. As usual I will start with the number ten game on my list and work my way to what I thought. If you want to read some more in depth thoughts on each game just click its name. Lets this list going! 10. Transistor The second game coming out of SuperGiant games, which shows they know how to make a good game. You play as Red, a singer who has lost her voice in a cyberpunk world. Armed only with a talking sword she must travel through the deserted city in order to find out whats going on. The soundtrack, atmosphere, and combat blend together to create an unforgettable experience. I cant wait to see where SuperGiant goes from here. 9. Mario Kart 8 Mario ...

Top Ten Favorite Battle Pets Part One

Top Ten Favorite Battle Pets Part One I get easily distracted by doing pet battles. It takes me way longer than it should to complete one quest just because I cant resist stopping to battle a pet that I dont already have or one that I have but isnt rare. This is one of my most favorite new features of the Mists of Pandaria expansion. I think Blizzard was brilliant when they introduced this into the game. I thought Id compile a list of my top ten favorite battle pets that I already have. I limited myself to only rares (with one exception) because I had such a hard time picking favorites. They are not listed in any order because I just couldnt do that. I might hurt feelings. ;) Modeling with my battle pets is Maruka, my level 90 Orc Hunter. Say hello to the Giraffe Calf. Ok. I know I said that I couldnt pick favorites, but the Giraffe Calf is probably my favorite and for two reasons. One being that I have collected giraffes since I was ten years old. I think they are one of the most maje...

Top Ten Games of 2015

Top Ten Games of 2015 The year has once again come to an end, which means I need to tell you what my top ten games of the year were. As always I will start at ten and work my way down to one. This year was savage, because there were a ton of great games that came out. I had a super hard time deciding what to put on my list and where to put it. Keep in mind that these are my personal opinions. 10. Disgaea 5 I love the Disgaea series for its weird characters and insane grinding. However, Disgaea 5 just didnt do it for me like I thought it would. I still had a ton of fun, but the story dragged on for so long that I had lost interest by the time I got to the post game. The overall story was bland and predictable, but the characters held it up. I may return to it again soon for some more leveling goodness. 9. Yakuza 5 After playing Yakuza 3 I fell in love with the franchise. The combat is a modern take on old school beat em ups, and feels silky smooth. Its a ton of fun to run around Japan a...
